Meet our school counselors
Hello, Everyone!
We are excited for another school year to begin at Big Spring Middle School! As school counselors, we are trained to assist students in the areas of academics, personal/social needs and careers. Most of our time with students is spent in small groups or individual meetings. We are also in classrooms at times as we visit and get to know students and present various lessons or facilitate other important programs. We work closely with students, staff and caregivers to better understand students and their needs and help create programs and solutions to address those needs. We also greet students each morning as they enter the building--sometimes we even get responses from our tired students! 😊
From Mrs. Boles:
This is my 2nd year at Big Spring Middle School, and prior to that, I was the school counselor at Newville Elementary. I have half of the students in each grade level on my caseload, starting with 6th graders who have/had Mrs. Gilbert, Mrs. Beatty, Mr. Britcher or Mrs. Cornman for homeroom, and staying with those students for the remainder of their middle school years. My husband and I reside in Mechanicsburg with our two boys. We have a black lab, Parker, and a pond of fish. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, visiting amusement parks, and running (well, some might call it a fast walk!).
From Mrs. Craig:
I am looking forward to starting my 19th year at Big Spring Middle School! I also have half of the students in each grade level on my caseload, starting with 6th graders who have/had Mr. Spears, Mrs. Piper, Mrs. Long or Mr. Tigyer for homeroom, and staying with those students for the remainder of their middle school years. My husband and I live in Shippensburg, and we have three daughters, a dog and two cats. I love to travel with my family and support my girls as they participate in sporting events and concerts.
